Zac Efron allegedly sought treatment in rehab for addiction issues earlier this year.

According to E! News, the former High School Musical star spent time in a treatment facility about five months ago after spiralling out of control while working on Seth Rogen’s movie Neighbors in April.

A source told E! News that Efron is "healthy, happy and not drinking. He’s taking time to focus on working."

According to TMZ, alcohol was not Efron’s only problem: He also struggled with an addiction to cocaine and ecstacy.

A source on the set of Neighbors told the gossip website that "It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine."

Three other sources confirmed the claim to TMZ, adding that Efron had allegedly also been taking "Molly", a pure form of ecstasy popular on the nightclub scene.

A spokesperson for Efron was quoted as saying: "Don’t think we’ll be making a comment."
