Watch: Die Antwoord vs Gaga
Die Antwoord have released a characteristically controversial video for their new single Fatty Boom Boom.
> Check out Gaga’s response here.
The video features a meat-dress-wearing Lady Gaga – who, incidentally, is scheduled to perform two concerts in South Africa later this year – taking a tour of a South African city.
Her tour guide natters about how South Africans refer to traffic lights as "robots" and drives them past shopkeepers with black panthers and lions as security. They also take a swing past some street musicians – Die Antwoord, of course – with Gaga saying "Maybe I should get them to open for me": a direct reference to their former record label Interscope’s request to have them open for the pop diva. (They didn’t, but it appears they wouldn’t forget).
Things quickly take a turn for the worse as Gaga’s taxi is hijacked, and she is forced to flee on foot. We won’t spoil the rest of the video for you, but suffice to say it’s not for sensitive viewers. We’ll leave you to it.
