Top Billing finalist joins Dr Mol Show
Cape Town – Michael Mol announced on Friday
that Chamendran Naidoo, one of the four finalists of My Top Billing Dream, will
be joining him as a co-host and medical consultant on The Dr Mol Show on SABC3.
Chamendran, a medical doctor who graduated
from Stellenbosch University, grabbed the attention of Mol and his producers during
the auditions for My Top Billing Dream, which was eventually won by Jonathan
Boynton-Lee.
“I’m very honoured to be joining the SABC3
family,” said Chamendran. “It’s a huge opportunity for me to work with such an amazing, experienced team.”
Michael Mol has for years been hoping to
find the perfect medical professional with an aptitude for TV to join him on
his TV show, and was instantly drawn to Chamendran’s onscreen charisma during
the Top Billing presenter search competition.
“To be honest I was hoping he wouldn’t win,”
Michael jokingly confessed at a SABC3 Spring line-up presentation at the 15 on
Orange Hotel in Cape Town.
Chamendran, 25, is originally from Durban and
currently works at the South African Navy base in Simon’s Town.
No date for Chamendran’s first appearance
in The Dr Mol Show has been determined yet.
The Dr Mol Show airs on SABC3 on Fridays at
15:45.
