‘They’re not giving up’

September 26, 2013

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are "not giving up" on their marriage.

The couple – who recently announced they were taking some time apart – still talk multiple times a day, despite the fact that they’re leading separate lives.

Zeta-Jones was in China for the launch of a new studio on Sunday (22 September), when Douglas won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or Movie for his role in Behind the Candelabra – and thanked her in his speech.

He told reporters on the red carpet that he was still hopeful that he could save his marriage.

When asked about Zeta-Jones, Douglas said: "Catherine is great. She is doing wonderful, talked to her today [and] just got a lovely note from her. I’m very hopeful that we’re going to work things out.

"As I said we’re just taking a break, a couple of issues, sometimes you got to do that."

Zeta-Jones is currently caring for their children in their New York home, while Douglas is filming his new thriller The Reach in Mexico.
