Teen Pink fan arrested for tweet

July 10, 2013

A teenage fan was arrested at Pink’s concert at Melbourne, Australia’s Rod Laver Arena on Sunday (7 July), after tweeting about having a "bomb."

"@Pink I’m ready with my Bomb," the 16-year-old tweeted as the pop singer took the stage. "Time to blowup #RodLaverArena Bitch."

Rod Laver Arena staff reportedly recognised the boy from his Twitter profile picture, and he was ejected from the arena and arrested by local police.

Alhough he’s been released, he is currently awaiting charges. He’s also since deleted the damning tweet.

The boy faced later the media personally, explaining that the "bomb" in question was a reference to Pink’s Timebomb, a bonus track from last year’s The Truth About Love. "It was meant to be about drop the effects, the music, everything," he said, "just drop it all."

The boy’s sister has defended her brother in an interview with the Herald Sun. "We had to go there at midnight to sort it out, and we thought we had to bail him; we thought he’d been killed; we didn’t know what to think," she said. "He wrote it as in one of her songs is called Timebomb, and he forgot to put the ‘Time’ on there."

The sister added that her family didn’t like how security guards basically "jumped on him," though she did praise the police for how they treated him after his arrest.

"They spoke to him, they fed him and someone was there making jokes with him," she said. "They just thought he needed a kick in the bum and that’s all he really needed."

Pink’s Australian tour has been hugely successful and record-breaking. The Melbourne venue (which seats 15,000) is hosting 18 straight Pink shows through July and August.
