Star rubbishes ‘Hulk’ rumours

March 08, 2013

Mark Ruffalo has shot down rumours of a solo Hulk film.

The actor – who plays the green creature with superhuman strength and a temper to match in The Avengers – denied speculation Marvel studios are planning a stand-alone movie about his character Bruce Banner and his fearsome alter-ego.

He addressed the claims over Twitter, writing: "A lot of folks have been asking about the next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in The Avengers 2. No plans for stand alone."

However, the 45-year-old star wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to front his own film in the future should the opportunity arise.

He added: "I am not giving up on another stand alone Hulk. But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring."

Marvel producer Kevin Feige claimed last year the studio were considering the idea, despite previous Eric Bana and Edward Norton-fronted attempts to bring the Hulk to life on the big screen failing to set the box office alight.

Kevin revealed: "Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in Avengers? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could.

"We certainly are not even going to attempt that until Avengers 2, so there’s a lot of time to think about it. I don’t think there’s a lot that we couldn’t do someday."

Marvel have a jam-packed line-up of comic book-inspired movies coming out over the next few years, including the release of Iron Man 3 in April, Thor: The Dark World in November, Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy in August 2014 and The Avengers 2 in May 2015.
