Sentebale Files High Court Defamation Claim Against Harry
The charity Sentebale, co-founded by the Duke of Sussex to honour Princess Diana, has launched a defamation claim in London’s High Court.
The legal action also names former trustee Mark Dyer as a defendant.
The dispute stems from a boardroom fallout in March 2025 involving the charity’s chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka. Sentebale claims the pair led a “coordinated adverse media campaign” that caused “reputational harm” and triggered cyberbullying.
While the Charity Commission cleared the Duke of racism and bullying, chief executive David Holdsworth criticised the public nature of the row, stating it risked “overshadowing its many achievements”.
A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex and Mark Dyer said they “categorically reject these offensive and damaging claims.” The spokesperson added it was “extraordinary” to see legal action against the founders rather than funds being “directed to the communities the charity was created to serve.”
Trustees stated the lawsuit is funded externally.
Harry previously donated £1.2 million to Sentebale from his memoir, “Spare”. He described leaving as “devastating”, stating that “blatant lies hurt those who have invested decades” in supporting children in southern Africa.
