Serayah McNeill Ends Engagement, Cites Infidelity

Singer and actress Serayah McNeill has ended her engagement with Jo-Vaughn Scott.

The “Empire” star and the rapper – who performs under the stage name Joey Bada$$ – first went public with their relationship in 2023. In 2025, they welcomed a baby boy and also announced their engagement.

On Monday, 24 August, McNeill posted a statement to her Instagram account, in which she revealed the “difficult decision” to end her engagement with Scott.

“I loved deeply, believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building, and wanted nothing more than to protect our family,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, I also had to face a painful truth: there had been repeated infidelity throughout our relationship, including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of my life.”

The 31-year-old songstress continued: “I share this not for sympathy, retaliation or to publicly tear anyone down. I share it because too many women are taught to question themselves before they question what is happening right in front of them. If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it.”

Urging other women not to sacrifice their self-worth for the perfect relationship, McNeill highlighted her present commitment to her son’s protection and to co-parenting with Scott.
