Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Gets Vandalised
Repair work is being conducted on Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star, which was vandalised mere days after her death.
Last Tuesday, 25 August, Parton passed away at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
In the wake of the “Jolene” hitmaker’s death, fans paid tribute by leaving flowers, candles and trinkets at her star – which was awarded to her in 1984 – on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
However, a fan who visited the star on Monday, 31 August, subsequently reported on social media that it had been marred with scratches. One prominent scratch, as seen in the fan’s accompanying photo, was etched directly across the singer’s name.
Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, recently confirmed the defacement, telling an American media outlet: “From the photo [that the fan] posted, it does appear the star was vandalised with scratches.”
According to Martinez, repairs to Parton’s star commenced on Tuesday, 1 September, and are being carried out by the Hollywood Trust Fund, which is in charge of maintaining and repairing the stars on the Walk of Fame.
“The star will cure and will be polished on Friday [4 September] for fans to enjoy,” she said.
It is not known if an investigation into the vandalism of Parton’s star is taking place.
