Rob, Kristen call it quits

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have split up after almost four years together, People reports.

According to Us Weekly, Stewart and Pattinson have been "having problems" and "fighting a lot" recently, with things coming to a head on Pattinson’s 27th birthday on 13 May.

Sources revealed that Pattinson had ditched a party planned by Stewart in favour of a guys’ night out, leaving the actress distraught.

Despite the recent rocky patch, sources insisted to People that this is likely to be a temporary split for the Twilight Saga co-stars – with E! News reporting that the couple are still sharing Stewart’s home.

According to Hollywood Life, Stewart is "super sad" about the break-up and is "leaning on her friends" – including her Twilight Saga co-star Taylor Lautner, who supported her when Pattinson was in Australia filming The Rover earlier this year.

This is not the first time the Hollywood couple have called time on their relationship.

Pattinson broke things off for two months last summer after Stewart was photographed kissing her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

They reconciled last autumn in time to promote the final Twilight Saga film, ‘Breaking Dawn: Part 2, but sources revealed that things remained strained for some time afterward.

A source said last year: "Rob is at a point where he sometimes ignores her. He’ll go out and won’t respond to her calls or texts right away. Things will be strained for a while."

However, Stewart made a huge effort to win Pattinson back, with the insider adding: "She knows she has to go along with it. She is working hard at the relationship."
