Pregnant Kate ill again

December 10, 2012

The Duchess of Cambridge has fallen ill again.

A St James’ Palace spokesman told Us Weekly that Catherine had suffered a new bout of severe morning sickness, adding that: "It is well known that Hyperemesis Gravidarum often recurs."

The spokesman further added that William pulled out of a planned appearance at the British Military Tournament in Earls’ Court to be with Catherine. The spokesman also told the publication: "Until further notice, to allow the Duchess a degree of privacy during her pregnancy, we do not intend to offer regular condition checks or advise of routine developments."

The 30-year-old royal and her husband Prince William announced they are expecting their first child together last week (3 December) after Duchess Catherine was admitted to hospital for acute morning sickness and after being discharged on Thursday (6 December) William has joked about the misleading name of his wife’s recent illness.

Speaking at the Winter Whites Gala in Earls Court, London, for homeless charity Centrepoint – which he is a patron of – William said: "I don’t know why they call it morning sickness – they should call it all day and all night sickness. It’s a long old process but she is getting there. She feels like it is going to go on forever."

The prince was to originally attend the event with Catherine, formally known as Kate Middleton prior to their nuptials, however the pregnant beauty has cancelled all her royal engagements leading up to Christmas and has been given strict instructions by staff at London’s King Edward VII hospital to rest and stay hydrated.

Since the duchess left for Kensington Palace to rest the hospital’s nurse Jacintha Saldanha – who answered a hoax call regarding the duchess’s state from Australian radio DJs pretending to be William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth – has died in a suspected suicide and the royal couple have expressed how "deeply saddened" they are at the tragedy.

A statement read: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jacintha Saldanha. Their Royal Highnesses were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."

Jacintha’s husband Ben Barboza has shared how "devastated" he is at losing his wife, who was also mother to their 16-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter, posting on his Facebook page: "I am devastated with the tragic loss of my beloved wife Jacintha in tragic circumstances, She will be laid to rest in Shirva, India."

DJ’s Mel Greig and Michael Christian are receiving counselling to help them cope with the severe backlash over the nurse’s death.
