McGregor for ‘Jane Got a Gun’?

May 08, 2013

Ewan McGregor is in talks to star in Jane Got A Gun.

The Impossible actor has entered negotiations to play the main villain in the Western film – which has been hampered by cast departures.

McGregor would replace Bradley Cooper in the antagonist role opposite Natalie Portman and Zero Dark Thirty actor Joel Edgerton.

Edgerton was originally cast in the role but was later switched to a protagonist role after X-Men: First Class actor Michael Fassbender dropped out of the movie.

Jude Law was next to fill the role, however, he also left the project after original director Lynne Ramsay quit the production just a day before production was due to get under way.

Cooper was then cast in the role but also departed, citing a scheduling conflict. The actor’s latest flick, American Hustle – which reunites him with Silver Linings Playbook director David O’Russell and actress Jennifer Lawrence – has faced a production setback following the Boston Marathon bombings in April 2013, making it impossible for him to juggle the two roles.

The Western film centres on a woman who turns to her gunman ex-lover to protect her husband from an outlaw gang.

The flick is being directed by Gavin O’Connor and produced by Portman, Scott Steindorff and Aleen Keshishian.
