Mardsen set for ‘Anchorman’
James Marsden has been cast in Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
The X-Men actor is expected to play bumbling hero Ron Burgandy’s rival news reader in the sequel to 2004’s laugh-a-minute comedy Anchorman.
Marsden will join original cast members including leading man Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate as well as newcomer, Bridesmaids actress Kristen Wiig.
The 39-year-old hunk most recently starred in risque comedy Bachelorette and has just finished filming Walk Of Shame with Elizabeth Banks.
This news comes after veteran actor Terence Stamp let slip he had been contacted by "Will Ferrell’s people" about playing a "Rupert Murdoch-type figure" in the funnyman’s new project.
Producer Judd Apatow recently revealed the script, penned by Will and director Adam McKay, is hysterically funny, but has vowed to keep details of the plot under wraps.
He said: "We read it a few weeks ago and people were laughing so hard that at about 40 minutes in we all just ran out of gas. It was hard to read the whole thing because we got tired [from laughing].
"I can’t give it away because it’s more secret than the next Star Wars.
Anchorman 2 is eyeing up a March shoot in Atlanta for a December 2013 release.
