Lindsay fires her lawyer
Lindsay Lohan has fired her lawyer.
According to TMZ, the Liz & Dick actress has sacked Shawn Holley, who has represented her through her numerous court appearances over the years, and hired New York attorney Mark Heller to replace her.
Heller reportedly informed Holley in a letter that he was taking over as Lohan’s legal representative, which Holley received just as she was on her way to a courthouse in Los Angeles to try to negotiate a settlement for Lohan (26) who has been accused of lying to police over her car accident last year.
In June, the troubled actress hit a truck near Los Angeles and told officers that she was merely a passenger in the car at the time.
However, both the truck driver and her assistant Gavin told police that Lohan was behind the wheel when the accident occurred.
The charge has meant that the star had her probation – related to her July 2011 theft of a necklace – revoked. If she is found guilty, Lohan could face up to a year in prison.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Lohan owes Holley $300 000 in unpaid legal fees.
A source told Radar Online: "Lindsay owes Shawn over $300k in legal fees and she hasn’t made any payments to her in over six months. Lindsay hadn’t paid anything for any of the work Shawn has done on her three new criminal charges of lying to cops, in connection with her car accident in Santa Monica last summer.
"Shawn has kept Lindsay out of jail for over five years now and she has no idea how good she has had it. Shawn is extremely respected by judges and prosecutors and that has benefited Lindsay greatly.
"Lindsay’s new criminal attorney, Mark Heller, isn’t even based in Los Angeles and certainly doesn’t have the revered reputation that Shawn does."
The source also claimed that the star – who recently received $100 000 from Charlie Sheen to help her pay her tax bill – may not be paying her new lawyer, either.
The insider added: "I suspect that Lindsay’s new attorney is either representing her for a reduced fee, or not charging her at all. I think Mark wants the publicity that representing Lindsay Lohan can bring."
