Lily Allen reports soldier over tweet
Los Angeles – Lily Allen has reported a British soldier over a racially abusive tweet.
The Not Fair singer took offence to a comment made by 20-year-old Harry Wilson, whose profile on the social networking website indicated he was a member of the British Army, and the Ministry of Defence is now investigating the remarks.
@harrywil2010 tweeted Lily earlier on Tuesday saying: “just seen you bought s*** I meant adopted a child from Africa” (sic).
The furious 25-year-old star – who is believed to be expecting her second child with husband Sam Cooper – asked , posting:
“How do you report someone on here. That guy I retweeted should be banned”.
She then took matters into her own hands and wrote: ” do you condone @harrywil2010 racist comments? his profile says he is in the British Army. He needs disciplining.”
We’ll investigate
The British Army replied: “Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Lily. We do not condone racism. We’ll investigate.”
Lily was pleased with the promise of an investigation.
She wrote: ” @britisharmy thank you for responding, I trust you will deal with the matter adequately. (sic)”
An army spokesman later said: “Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination.”
Harry claimed his comments were intended as a joke and “harmless fun” before his Twitter account was removed.
