‘Lamar has a huge problem’

September 04, 2013

Lamar Odom’s alleged drug dealer has claimed that the basketball star spent $50 000 (R516 000) on cocaine in three years.

The New York-based dealer – who has chosen to keep his identity concealed – alleged that Khloe Kardashian’s husband has a "huge problem", and claims that he witnessed Odom taking the drug on as many as 10 occasions since 2010.

In a video interview with Radar Online, the dealer revealed: "[Lamar has a] huge problem and he has a very addictive personality. It is becoming worse as you can see."

"He likes to party, He’s a pretty nice guy to be honest with you, but he’s becoming …  his problem seems to be becoming a bigger problem. In my experience, he literally likes cocaine. He is a cocaine guy. He likes to smoke it."

According to Radar Online, the dealer supplied Odom with cocaine, which he would then "freebase" – in which the user purifies the drug by burning it before inhaling the fumes – a method reportedly popular among the Hollywood party crowd.

The dealer also claimed that the former LA Clippers star Odom used the drug just before playing in a game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in February this year.

The dealer said: "I know it for a fact because I sold him the stuff and saw him smoke it, he spent about 16 grand. Quantity wise, it was a little under half a kilo."

He added that Odom had spent "Roughly, more than 50 grand … over the time I’ve known him."

Odom – who has been at the centre of drug addiction and infidelity rumours over the past few weeks – was arrested for driving under the influence on Friday (30 August).

According to a report compiled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, he showed "objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform sobriety tests as explained and demonstrated", and has had his license suspended for a year after refusing to take chemical tests after being booked.
