Kristen confirmed for sequel

April 17, 2013

Kristen Stewart is officially starring in the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.

Universal Pictures chairman Adam Fogelson confirmed the 23-year-old actress – who made headlines after admitting to a brief fling with the film’s director Rupert Sanders – is taking on the lead role in the second installment of the film, which will be released in 2015.

According to gossip website Just Jared, Fogelson confirmed Stewart’s return at the CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on Tuesday, but did not clarify whether Chris Hemsworth or Charlize Theron would return to reprise their roles as the huntsman and the evil queen.

Stewart, who has mended her relationship with her boyfriend Robert Pattinson following her affair, revealed she was excited about the sequel and predicted it would be "amazing".

She said in December: "It’s gonna be f**king amazing. No, I’m so excited about it, it’s crazy. The other day I said that there was a strong possibility that we’re going to make a sequel, and that’s very true, but everyone was like, ‘Whoa, stop talking about it.’ So no, I’m totally not allowed to talk about it."

It was previously reported that Sanders will not return to direct the sequel.
