Kris ‘willing to risk career’

February 18, 2013

Kris Humphries is allegedly willing to risk his career over his divorce battle with Kim Kardashian.

The Brooklyn Nets basketball player’s team is on track to score a place in the 2013 Playoffs, which run from 20 April to 20 June, and he is said to be willing to miss crucial games in order to face his estranged wife in court on 6 May.

A source close to the 28-year-old athlete, who is on a two-year contract worth $24-million, told gossip website TMZ.com that Kris has already decided he will skip the Playoffs if the trial, which could last two or three days, clashes with a game.

The sports star is keen to have their 72-day marriage annulled on the grounds of fraud, insisting Kardashian only married him for publicity on her show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Humphries’ former attorney Marshall Weller allegedly advised against seeking an annulment, later quitting over their differences, and Humphries hired out-of-state lawyer Lee Hutton to help on the case.

However, Humphries will need to find another Californian representative to add to his legal team before he can go to court.

Humphries’ split from Kardashian has been dragging on since October 2011, when Kardashian filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage.

Kardashian, who is expecting her first child in July with Kanye West – her rapper boyfriend of almost a year – has accused Humphries of holding her "hostage" through their divorce and wants to move on with her life.
