Klum splits from SA bodyguard

Heidi Klum has split from her South African bodyguard boyfriend Martin Kirsten.

Klum and Kirsten reportedly ended both their working and personal relationship several weeks ago, after around a year-and-a-half of dating.

The couple were believed to have started their romance shortly after supermodel Klum split from Seal, her husband of seven years, in January 2012.

A source told People: "Martin was there for her during a challenging time in her life and it was something she will always be grateful for.

"Life is about timing. He was incredibly supportive and they were there for each other, but they’re moving on now."

When the couple first started dating, Klum said: "[Kirsten]’s been helping me for four years now, and he takes wonderful care of the kids. He plays with them, he protects them. I trust him."

The source added that the former couple will still have a "great friendship".
