Kim wants divorce for her baby
Kim Kardashian has begged a judge to hasten her divorce for "the health and well-being of her unborn child".
The reality star – who is expecting her first baby in July with partner Kanye West – is hoping to have her divorce made final before the baby’s arrival, and on 24 January filed a motion requesting that "either a trial date be set as soon as possible or for a judge to grant her a divorce not reliant upon the financial disagreements still pending between her and Humphries", reports E! News .
In a newly filed legal declaration obtained by gossip website TMZ.com, the 32-year-old star wrote: "I do not want to be married to [Humphries] when I have my baby.
"Immediately upon it becoming known to the public that I was pregnant…I began to see articles in the media with quotes attributed to [Humphries] stating that now that I am pregnant he has ‘got all the power,’ ‘that he is in control of my misery’ and that he is not going ‘to allow’ me to be divorced by the time I have my baby."
The declaration continued: "I am requesting the status of my marriage be determined now for not only my health and welfare but also for the health and well-being of my unborn child.
"I firmly believe that an immediate dissolution of our marriage will help create a new, full life for me. One chapter will be officially over, and a new one can begin. The same should hold true for [Humphries]."
Humphries and his lawyer filed new documents in court this week, complaining that the divorce was being unnecessarily rushed through the courts because of Kardashian’s "unplanned pregnancy".
The couple separated on 31 October 2011 after just 72 days of marriage, and Humphries has been dragging out the divorce because he wants an annulment on the grounds of fraud – claiming that his wedding to Kardashian was merely an attempt to boost the ratings on her show.
A source has told TMZ that the stress is taking its toll on Kardashian and her baby, claiming that the star’s doctor rushed to her home in the middle of the night recently because the star was experiencing severe abdominal pains.
Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, said on The View yesterday: "Kim has been going through this divorce for months. She has been under a lot of stress because of it and the doctors told her she had a really tough week and the stress could become a problem if she isn’t careful."
