Joseph to star in ‘Sin City 2’

January 09, 2013

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has confirmed that he will be appearing in the Sin City sequel.

The Dark Knight Rises actor confirmed the news on his Twitter account yesterday (8 January), posting a message that read:"This one’s no mere rumor, and it’s gonna be fun as f**k. @Rodriguez. @FrankMillerInk. #SinCity #ADameToKillFor."

According to BANG Showbiz, Gordon-Levitt has landed the role of Johnny in Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – a part which had previously been offered to Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp.

Gordon-Levitt’s character will be "core" in overlapping storylines that involve original cast members Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Bruce Willis and Rosario Dawson.

Newcomers to the feature, based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel, include Dennis Haysbert and Gangster Squad star Josh Brolin.

Meanwhile, Gordon-Levitt (31) is set to share his directorial debut Don Jon’s Addiction at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah later this year, in which he stars alongside Scarlett Johansson as well as penning the script.

He is also up for the Best Actor in an Action Movie award for his role as Joe in 2012’s Looper at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is rumoured to open in US cinemas on October 2013.
