John Cleese back for Spud II
Cape Town – British actor John Cleese is again set to play The Guv, in the second Spud movie titled Spud: The Madness Continues .
According to a press statement most of the original crew will also be back to play their respective roles (with a few additions made) the statement read:
“British screen legend John Cleese returns for Spud 2 as The Guv, the eccentric English teacher.
“South African-born Troye Sivan is also back in the title role as well as the rest of the Crazy 7 (minus Gecko,who died in the last movie).
“Sven Ruygrok (Rambo); Josh Goddard (Mad Dog); Tom Burne (Vern); Byron Langley (Simon); Travis Hornsby (Boggo) and Blessing Xaba (Fatty).”
The second movie sees Spud Milton return to boarding school where he is no longer the smallest nor youngest boy in the hostel and presents to him (and his now crazy eight crew) with new challenges.
‘We’ve a significant support’
The movie is currently being filmed in Kwazulu-Natal and will again be directed by Donovan Marsh.
Film producer, Ross Garland, is excited by the new project and claims it has strong commercial backing.
“The first film did really well, topping the box office during the summer holidays in 2010.
“We’ve had significant support from a pool of local investors for the sequel, illustrating South Africa’s strong affection for the Spud series,” he said.
