Greene’s flat goes up in flames

March 25, 2013

Ashley Greene’s condo is set to be completely gutted after it went up in flames on Friday (22 March).

The Twilight Saga star – who is devastated after an unattended candle started a fire in her living room, which resulted in the death of one of her beloved fox terriers – will reportedly have to find a new place to live temporarily as the apartment and four other units in her building undergo restoration.

A source told gossip website TMZ.com that the damage is so significant that the 26-year-old actress’s property will have to be completely gutted in order for new walls, ceilings and flooring to be fitted.

Four other condos suffered moisture damage in the blaze, which spread after the candle set a couch on fire, and will also need to be worked on.

Greene, her boyfriend and her brother were asleep in the condo at the time of the fire, and they fled the apartment before realising that her two dogs were still inside. Fire fighters were only able to save one of the dogs, which was taken to an animal rescue centre to be examined.

The other dog was reportedly found under Greene’s bed.

Los Angeles Fire Department Inspector Johnson told Radar Online: "We made an aggressive fire attack. Our team saw smoke and fire coming from the third floor.

"We have reports of two patrons that were burned, so they were treated by the paramedics and sent to the hospital."
