‘Glee’ star checks into rehab
Cory Monteith has checked into rehab.
The Glee actor – who plays Finn Hudson in the comedy-drama show and is dating his co-star Lea Michele – has "voluntarily" admitted himself into a facility for "substance addiction".
His representative told PEOPLE: "[Cory] has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction.
"He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."
Michele has vowed to stand by the 30-year-old hunk during his time in rehab and admitted she is "grateful and proud" of him for checking into the facility.
She added: "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision."
Monteith – who revealed that he had entered rehab when he was 19 years old to seek help in battling his addictions – has received "full support" from Glee’s network.
Twentieth Century Fox released a statement saying: "Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."
There are two episodes left to be filmed in this season of Glee – and while Monteith will miss shooting, it is not yet clear how his character’s absence will be explained.
