Shakira’s son is "dark-haired".
The She Wolf singer gave birth to her first child Milan Pique Mebarak with soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique on Tuesday (22 January) and the 25-year-old sportsman’s grandfather, Amador Bernabeu, has given a clue as to what the newborn looks like.
He told Catalan radio station RAC-1: "I still haven’t seen (Milan) in person but I know he is dark-haired and weighs 6lbs."
Meanwhile, proud dad Pique shared a snap of the baby’s feet – wearing what E! Online reported were custom-made Nike shoes with Milan’s name embroidered on them.
Columbian President Juan Manuel Santos was among the first of well-wishers to congratulate them, tweeting: "Congratulations to @ shakira and @ 3gerardpique on behalf of Colombia and my family on the birth of the baby.(sic)"
Floods of messages followed Juan’s, with Manchester City striker Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero posting: "Welcome Milan Piqué Mebarak and congratulations to Shakira and Gerard Pique. What would you prefer as a present for the baby, a microphone or some (soccer) boots?(sic)"
Pique’s Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas tweeted a welcome to the baby, saying: ”can’t wait to meet you.(sic)”
The Pies Descalzos (Shoeless) Foundation for deprived children, which was set up by Shakira in 1997, sent a message reading: ”The children and Pies Descalzos team are happy for Milan’s birth. We love you Shakira! (sic)”
The 35-year-old beauty – whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll – appealed for support from fans prior to being admitted into the Teknon clinic, where she gave birth.
She requested: "I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life. Shak"
