Fox plots Dodgeball sequel
20th Century Fox is planning a sequel to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
The movie studio and Ben Stiller’s production company Red Hour – which produced the original film – have hired Clay Tarver to pen a script for the proposed movie, which would be a follow-up to the 2004 hit comedy starring Stiller and Vince Vaughn as rival gym owners who form dodgeball teams.
The sequel will reportedly focus on Vaughn’s Peter La Fleur and Stiller’s White Goodman putting their differences aside to tackle a more menacing threat to their respective businesses.
Dodgeball was a big hit, grossing more than $160-millionon a modest $20-million budget in 2004.
A sequel to the comedy has long been rumoured but never came to fruition.
Vaughn will next be seen reuniting with Wedding Crashers co-star Owen Wilson in The Internship’, a comedy about two businessmen who find themselves out of jobs due to the rise of digital media and stumble into internships at Google.
Meanwhile, Stiller is plotting a sequel to another of his past movies, Zoolander, in which he starred as a self-absorbed fashion model.
