Fergie gives birth to son
Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel have welcomed their first child into the world.
According to E! News, the baby – named Axl Jack – weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces (3.46kg), and was delivered by pre-scheduled Caesarean section in Los Angeles yesterday (29 August).
Josh revealed their baby’s sex during an appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Michael, but the couple did manage to keep their son’s name under wraps.
"Some people may not like it, some people may think it’s really cool, but we don’t really care — that’s why we’re not telling anybody," Josh said.
He told E! News in March was that he and Fergie have wanted to start a family together "for a very long time".
"We’re both just over the moon about it," he added.
Fergie joked: "He wanted to knock me up on our first date!"
As excited as the couple was to become parents, Josh also admitted to being "terrified" as the responsibility of caring for his son was sinking in.
He said: "I got to tell you, I’m a little bit nervous. I thought I was going to be good, I thought I was ready for this and I’m a little bit terrified.
"I’m excited and terrified because I’m responsible for this little thing forever. I just got that."
Fergie, however, is convinced her husband will be an "amazing father".
In an interview before giving birth, she said: "He’s been amazing. He so nice and wonderful. He sings and talks to my belly all the time. He’s very complimentary. I’m very lucky that he’s really good to me."
"He’s going to be an amazing father," she said. "I’m so blessed. I’m on top of the world. Me and my baby are on top of the world."
