Elton John to release new album

June 27, 2013

Elton John has announced the release of his new solo album with an intimate black and white trailer clip.

The Diving Board – produced by T Bone Burnett – will arrive 24 September, and will be the 66-year-old singer’s first solo album since The Captain and the Kid in 2006. "What kind of music do I really want to make? I have to go back to go forward again," John says in the trailer. "I am on the diving board."

John previewed The Diving Board in February, and exuded confidence in his new work. "It’s got everything I love about American music – gospel, soul, country," he said. "It’s the most adult record I can make at my age. I’m just heading toward being 80 years old and playing at the Holiday Inn."
