Dua Lipa Sues Samsung Electronics

May 12, 2026

Pop superstar Dua Lipa has officially filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, alleging the tech giant used her likeness without authorization to promote its high-end television range. The legal action, filed in the High Court in London on 12 May, 2026, claims that a promotional campaign featured a manipulated image of the singer to showcase screen clarity.

The dispute centers on a digital advertisement for Samsung’s “Neo QLED” line. According to legal filings, the advertisement utilized a high-definition photograph of Lipa from a 2024 concert tour. Her legal team asserts that the image was used to demonstrate “true-to-life color” and “unmatched detail,” implying an official endorsement that was never negotiated or compensated.

“This is a clear-cut case of commercial misappropriation,” stated Lipa’s lead counsel during a brief press availability on Tuesday. “Our client’s image is her brand, and it cannot be harvested by multinational corporations to drive hardware sales without a formal agreement.”

Samsung has yet to file a formal defense but issued a brief statement acknowledging the litigation. A spokesperson for the company remarked that they are “reviewing the specific allegations” and intend to respond through the appropriate legal channels.

Legal analysts suggest this case could set a significant precedent for digital image rights in the era of high-definition AI-upscaling.
