Drew Barrymore to film in SA
Drew Barrymore is heading to South Africa to film her next movie with Adam Sandler.
Barrymore told the Wall Street Journal that she is heading to Sun City for six weeks later this year to work on their upcoming romantic comedy, which follows a couple who – after surviving a dreadful first date – find themselves at a family resort with the kids from their respective previous marriages.
The 38-year-old actress revealed that she decided not to produce the film, and focused instead on reuniting with Sandler.
"It was all Adam and I talked about, him and I bring out the best in each other so we were very choosy," Barrymore told the Wall Street Journal.
When she was asked how she discovered the film, Barrymore responded: "It’s been 10 years, but we found it and we are doing it this summer. We do wait 10 years between each project, because I think it takes a decade to find it and a decade of life to know what we should be doing."
Barrymore also revealed that the film will be similar in genre to her previous two collaborations with Sandler 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer – each of which grossed over $100-million – and added that their upcoming film is "indicative of where we are in life right now".
In the interview with the Wall Street Journal, Barrymore revealed that she was bringing her seven-month-old daughter Olive along for the shoot, and admitted that she was "a little worried" about the flight to South Africa "and making sure there’s medevac if anything happens".
