A radio personality allegedly killed two brothers in a hit-and-run incident in Mmabatho on Sunday morning, North West police have said.

According to Brigadier Thulane Ngubane, police are still investigating but will not release the man’s name until he appears in court.

According to Sapa, the 30-year-old man was driving a silver Audi when he hit the nine-year-old boy and his brother – believed to be in his 20s – as they were walking to church with their mother.

After hitting the pair, the Audi collided with another car, hit a rock, and came to a halt.

According to Ngubane, the driver then allegedly ran away, leaving his female passenger in the car.

Police went to the man’s house and place of work, and the man handed himself over to police at 11am on Sunday, Sapa reports.

The man faces two counts of culpable homicide, charges of reckless or negligent driving, drunken driving, and failing to stop and help at an accident.

He is expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court.
