Dan Schneider Sues “Quiet on Set” Creators

Former Nickelodeon producer, Dan Schneider, is suing the creators behind the lauded docu-series, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV”.

Released last month, “Quiet on Set” delves deep into the toxic and sexually abusive culture that reigned behind the scenes of popular Nickelodeon shows during the ‘90s and 2000s.

Most of these shows – including “All That”, “The Amanda Show”, “Drake & Josh” and “iCarly” – were helmed by Schneider, whom many former cast members and writers accused of fostering an unhealthy work environment, and of sexualising these shows’ child and teenage stars.

Despite offering an apology for his “past actions”, Schneider launched a lawsuit against a plethora of entities involved in the making of the docu-series – including Warner Bros. Discovery, Maxine Productions and Sony Pictures Television – on Wednesday, 1 May.

In it, the 58-year-old staunchly denied being complicit in the sexual abuse of any young cast members during his time at Nickelodeon.

“The portrayal of Schneider is a hit job,” the lawsuit reads. “While it is indisputable that two bona fide child sexual abusers worked on Nickelodeon shows, it is likewise indisputable that Schneider had no knowledge of their abuse, was not complicit in the abuse, condemned the abuse once it was discovered and, critically, was not a child sexual abuser himself.”

The defendants have yet to comment publicly on Schneider’s lawsuit.
