Damon covered in poo for film
In a move that shows that actors will do anything for the love of film, Matt Damon found himself covered in human excrement in Mexico.
The Oscar-winning actor filmed scenes for his new sci-fi film Elysium at one of the world’s biggest rubbish dumps in Mexico.
He told the Metro newspaper that one location was even called Poo River.
To make matters worse, a helicopter flying low to get aerial shots of the scene inadvertently splashed faeces all over the actors.
"It was tough … we were all told we had to get rid of the clothes that we wore each day. There was enough faecal matter to get sick and that was the big fear – that we might get respiratory illness from just breathing it in," he added.
In spite of the on-set difficulties, Damon says he is excited to be working with District 9 director, Neill Blomkamp.
"I freaked out like everyone when I saw District 9," he told the newspaper.
"Neill was instantly top of the list of people I wanted to work with. I didn’t think I would get to work with him right away, but sure enough, on his next movie there was this role available."
