Clooney, ex split over phone
George Clooney and Stacy Keibler reportedly ended their romance over the phone.
Clooney and the former WWE wrestler recently made the decision to part ways after over two years of dating due to conflicting work schedules and Keibler’s desire to settle down, with sources telling TMZ: "Both sides realised there is no way to have a relationship when you don’t see each other."
During their phone conversation, Clooney (52) reportedly told Keibler (33) that he wanted to remain friends, with a source adding: "He was very respectful, adult about the situation … he reminded Stacy that they were friends before they dated and wants to be friends after."
The couple had grown apart over the last three months while Clooney was in Europe working on Monuments Men and her new TV show Supermarket Superstar, and Us Weekly claims that the couple "hadn’t had sex in months".
A source told the magazine: "He’s been in Europe, and she’s in LA, and they haven’t seen each other in a long time. Some girls would be okay with that and just be happy dating George, but not her."
It has also been claimed that was keen to tie the knot with Clooney and start a family – in spite of his reputation as an eternal bachelor.
A second insider revealed: "She knew he wasn’t looking to get married. But there was always that fantasy that he would commit. Sadly, it just ran its course."
Clooney has dated a string of models and actresses in the past, including Elisabetta Canalis, Kelly Preston and Lisa Snowdon.
Canalis – who split from Clooney in June 2011 – afterwards claimed they had been more like father and daughter in the latter part of their romance.
She said at the time: "He has been special for me, and very important, just as a father would be. Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this until now."
