Christina Aguilera gets engaged

Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend Matt Rutler have become engaged.

Rutler – who has been dating Aguilera for over three years – proposed on Valentine’s Day, and Aguilera shared the news and a photograph of the ring on her Twitter account.

Underneath a picture of the couple holding hands, she wrote: "He asked and I said…… (sic)"

A source told People that the couple – who have been dating since 2010 – are "very much in love and are really excited to take this next step".

Aguilera and Rutler met on the set of Burlesque, in which she starred and he was a film assistant.

At the time, Aguilera was in the midst of a painful split from her first husband Jordan Bratman, who is the father of her six-year-old son Max.

Aguilera’s friends revealed that she can’t wait to be a mother again, and a source revealed: "She’s made it clear that her next child must be born before she is 35. She’s adamant she’s not going giving birth when she’s nearing 40."
