‘Cheat talk made us stronger’
Fergie says her marriage to Josh Duhamel is stronger because of infidelity rumours.
The Black Eyed Peas singer – who wed the Life As We Know It actor in 2009 – had to face "difficult" times when nine months into their marriage it was alleged he had cheated on her with a stripper, but she is adamant the unfounded claims actually made their relationship rock solid.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey, Fergie said the incident had helped her re-evaluate her marriage, explaining: "It was difficult. When you got thorough difficult times it really makes you stronger as unit, as a partnership. It does for us anyway. Our love today is a deeper love."
The couple renewed their vows in 2010 and the 37-year-old singer insists their relationship is now stronger than ever because they understand the importance of communication. Fergie added: "We’re strong today because of anything difficult that’s happened with us. We deal with it. We communicate. Communicating’s the most important thing."
Fergie has spoken about her desire to start a family with the handsome star in the near future and recently enthused: "It’s definitely something that we’re interested in doing. We made no secret of that. We’ll be very excited when it happens."
