Celebrating women and jazz
With Women’s Day coming up, the Jazz Super Session has decided to embrace them and their role in the genre according to Sowetan LIVE.
The report added that the Jazz Super Session, which takes place in Durban on August 9 (Women’s Day of course) at 2pm and will celebrate women in Jazz by featuring Jazz band, Heels Over Head – an all female jazz band.
According to Sowetan LIVE, the concert will also only feature women jazz presenters including Olebile Dikgetsi from a Northern Cape jazz club; Nomsa Fankomo from Mpumalanga and Felicity Mashodi from the Western Cape.
Tickets for the concert will cost R150 and will include a two-course meal.
The Jazz Super Session is part of The Road to Standard Bank Joy of Jazz campaign.
Sowetan LIVE further added that Standard Bank’s Joy of Jazz festival (which will take place from September 25-27 in Joburg) will feature top female performers such as Grammy winner Dianne Reeves, SA’s very own Sibongile Khumalo, and Italian jazz singer Roberta Gambarini.
