Captain America gets start date

September 12, 2012

Captain America: The Winter Soldier begins filming in March 2013.

The follow-up to the Chris Evans-led movie — one of a number of Marvel sequels in production — will have a 13-month production starting in spring next year.

Anthony and Joe Russo are directing the project, which is due out on the 4 April 2014.

The film has a major female role to fill, with Imogen Poots, Felicity Jones and Anna Kendrick all being auditioned for the role.

Former love interest Hayley Atwell will not be returning, but the new leading lady is likely to be Sharon Carter, a SHIELD agent and a descendant of Hayley’s character from the first film.

Kendrick is best known for her roles in Twilight Saga and Up In The Air, while British actress Jones  recently starred in Like Crazy and Poots fronted horror comedy remake Fright Night.

Thor 2 recently began filming, with Chris Hemsworth returning as the lead character.
