‘Big Bang’ star to divorce
Mayim Bialik and her husband of nine years, Michael Stone, are to divorce.
In a blog post on Wednesday, the Big Bang Theory star wrote: "After much consideration and soul-searching, Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to ‘irreconcilable differences’."
"Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly."
The couple – who married in August 2003 – have two sons together: seven-year-old Milkes and four-year-old Frederick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bialik has been an advocate of attachment parenting – a style which, among other things, encourages mothers to nurse their children for several years – but that the couple’s parenting choices did not contribute to their divorce.
"The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose," Bialik wrote.
"The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible. Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that’s what we are focusing on."
