Bieber, Gomez call it quits

November 12, 2012

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have split up.

The 20-year-old actress and the Baby superstar – who first went public with their relationship in February 2011 – broke up "about a week ago", a source told E! News on Friday.

"Because of their crazy schedules, it was getting harder and harder to maintain a relationship," the source said.

People magazine quoted a source as saying: "With them being apart so much it got complicated. She had some trust issues. It’s not easy, but the relationship needed to end."

When questioned about the split, Bieber told a US radio show that he wasn’t sure of the current status of his relationship, saying: "I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what’s going on in my life. To even assess that it doesn’t make sense ’cause I have not made any comment."

News of the couple’s split broke just hours after Gomez posted a picture on twitter of a photograph of 18-year-old Bieber with Hungarian Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin in the background.

Last week, Bieber was spotted on a date with the 19-year-old model in New York.

The pair – who met when Bieber performed at the Victoria’s Secret show in the city on Wednesday (7 November) – enjoyed a trip to see The Lion King on Broadway. However, a source close to the Boyfriend singer dismissed rumours that Bieber had "moved on" with the model.

Meanwhile, Gomez has reportedly agreed to meet Bieber in Brooklyn ahead of his concert tonight (12 November), to discuss whether they have a future together.

A source told the MailOnline: "It’s not just over for Justin and Selena, whatever happens they have a lot to talk about. Their schedules have been packed but Selena has made tentative plans to see Justin in New York before his Brooklyn concert, she hasn’t decided if she’ll attend yet, but she’s keen to talk… and so is he.

"They’re both being a bit cagey and stubborn but they’re desperate to see one another. This isn’t new for them, they often have a tumultuous relationship. We all expect them to work it out."
