Two contestants leave Masterchef SA

April 10, 2012

Cape Town – In a surprise twist two contestants left Masterchef SA on Tuesday.

After a mystery box challenge and a pressure test, Namibian
born Fortune Kangueehi was the first to leave Masterchef SA followed by
Capetonian Charles Canning.

Early on Tuesday, M-Net hinted that Guy Clark will be eliminated, but this was due to a technical error on their website, according to Channel24.

The Top 18 contestants, who set foot in the MasterChef SA
Kitchen for the first time, each received a mystery box for the first challenge
with the iinstructions to cook a meal that reminded them of childhood.

Fortune, an ad accounts manager from Windhoek, Namibia, did
not impress the judges with her rare meat and Charles’ bangers and mash were
too simple according to the judges.

In the Pressure Test five
contestants had to recreate two South African classics: the koeksister and
the Cape Malay koesiester – and they had 75 minutes to recreate it.

Unfortunately, Fortune forgot to put baking powder in her
mixture and Charles’s dish just didn’t make the cut.

MasterChef SA airs on M-Net and M-Net HD on Tuesdays at 19:30.
