“Star Wars” Actor Enters Mental Health Rehab

Former child actor Jake Lloyd is currently in a mental health rehabilitation facility following a psychotic break.

Lloyd is best known to “Star Wars” fans as playing young Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 flick, “Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace”. He retired from acting in 2001.

In the past few years, Lloyd has been struggling with his deteriorating mental health, and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia after dropping out of college in 2008.

Earlier this week, Lloyd’s mother Lisa revealed in an interview with an American media outlet that her 35-year-old son had a “full-blown psychotic break” after she drove him home from McDonald’s in March 2023.

“He said he wanted to turn the car off. And he turned the car off in the middle of the three lanes, and we were in the middle lane,” she explained. “There was a lot of yelling and screaming.”

Lloyd is currently ten months into his 18-month stay at an undisclosed mental health facility, where he is undergoing treatment and therapy for his condition.

“He’s doing much better than I expected,” Lisa said. “He is relating to people better and becoming a little bit more social, which is really nice. It’s kind of like having more of the old Jake back.”
