Kate Middleton Issues Apology for Controversial Photo

March 12, 2024

Kate Middleton has released a public apology for a photograph that has sparked controversy.

The 42-year-old Princess of Wales took to Instagram on Sunday, 10 March, to share a photograph of herself and her three children for International Mother’s Day.

“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day,” she captioned the post, which included the first image of the royal family member since her abdominal surgery in January.

However, as several publications picked up on the portrait and shared it worldwide, several eagle-eyed fans began to notice some strange aspects about the photograph. Many people assumed that the image had been altered and began speculating that it may have been done so to cover up health issues following the surgery.

The news outlets ultimately decided to retract the image over concerns about its legitimacy.

Middleton took to Twitter the following day to clarify the confusion: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.”

“I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day,” she added.
