Katherine Jackson says her granddaughter Paris is "in a good place" after her apparent suicide attempt in June.

The 83-year-old is one of the appointed legal guardians to the late Michael Jackson’s 15-year-old daughter and her two brothers, and revealed that the teen is recovering well in a facility for troubled teens.

Katherine told Hello! magazine: "She is in a good place, getting the help she needs. She is doing much better.

"The treatment is going good, really good. She’s my baby. It’s hard for me, really hard. All I want these kids to be is happy."

Paris is currently staying at a $14 000-a-month therapeutic private school, located just outside California, while she gets her life back on track.

Katherine also revealed that while Michael – who died from a propofol overdose in 2009 – was a "good son" and a "very good father", she doesn’t agree with all of his parenting methods – particularly making his children wear masks in public.

"They were sheltered a lot when Michael raised them," Katherine said.

"I had thought about it and I said ‘I am not going to raise them like that. But Michael had a good reason. He was trying to protect them."

She added: "He instilled good manners but it’s a different generation, of course, and I don’t understand the whole social media thing. They are always on their phones."
