Ariana Grande Sets Record Straight on Hiatus
Ariana Grande has spoken out about her decision to step out of the spotlight.
In recent months, the songstress sparked concern among fans regarding her appearance. Such concerns were renewed following the 31 July release of her “Petal” music video, in which Grande appears to be incredibly skinny.
In response to the public scrutiny, Grande announced on Sunday, 2 August, that she would be stepping back from her singing and acting projects after her “Eternal Sunshine” music tour wraps up on 1 September.
The following evening, in the midst of a concert at the United Centre in Chicago, Illinois, Grande spoke to the audience about her upcoming hiatus:
“So basically, the announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided. It’s a plan that I had quietly made a long time ago, and it’s a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place, and I want you to know that many, many things can be true at the same time.”
The 33-year-old “Break Free” hitmaker continued, explaining that she “heard that my fans were worried that negativity was ruining things for me, but I just have to say that could not be more the f*****g opposite.”
“This is not what that is, and I just want to make that very, very clear,” she said. “Nothing can be ruined. Multiple things can be true at the same time. Boundaries can need to be set. Human beings can need a break sometimes. And also, this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional and creative life.”
