Hotel praises Bieber’s graffiti ‘art’
The QT Gold Coast Hotel near Brisbane thinks that Justin Bieber’s graffiti is a "wonderful addition" to their building.
Bieber came under fire from Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate, who said that the star’s behaviour was disrespectful and "really, really silly", and sent a graffiti removal kit to the exclusive QT Hotel at Surfers Paradise so that Bieber he could repair the damage.
"If a normal person did that they’d be serving 80 to 100 hours of community service," Tate told the Nine Network.
"Just come and clean it up and we’ll be happy with you."
However, the QT Gold Coast has defended Bieber’s "art" and posted a photograph on their Facebook page with the slogan: "He asked, and we said YES".
A statement from the hotel’s manager read: "Whilst unable to comment while Justin Bieber was staying in the resort due to privacy reasons, the property can now state that it was a coup for the hotel to have Justin want to paint a piece of art in appreciation of his stay.
"This piece of art is now available to be viewed by fans of the artist and we believe that it is a wonderful addition to the colourful Gold Coast arts scene."
The hotel has also launched an online competition, asking local graffiti artists to add their own designs to the wall, and appealing for pictures portraying the best things about Australia’s Gold Coast.
