Daft Punk rules at Grammy Awards
French electronic duo Daft Punk ruled this year’s Grammy Awards, sweeping prizes in the major categories – including the Album of the Year Award for Random Access Memories.
Earlier in the evening, the duo picked up a win for Best Dance/Electronica Album for Random Access Memories, the duo also took home the coveted Record of the Year and the award for best pop/duo group performance, both for Get Lucky, featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
"I bet France is really proud of these guys right now," Williams said on behalf of the pair – real names Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter – who took to the stage to accept their Record of the Year win with their trademark helmets.
"I suppose the robots would like to say thanks," he said.
Earlier the French pair – who were making their first television appearance since the 2008 Grammys – performed their mega-hit Get Lucky in a recording-booth style setting, accompanied by Williams, Rogers and music icon Stevie Wonder.
Meanwhile, South African icons Ladysmith Black Mambazo took home their fourth Grammy for Live: Singing for Peace around the World – tying with Gipsy Kings for the Best World Music Album.
