All the VMA winners revealed

August 26, 2013

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards undoubtedly belonged to Justin Timberlake – and an appearance from his former band ‘N Sync.

Timberlake’s Mirrors claimed the night’s top award – Video of the Year – rounding his total of moonmen to four on the night, including the prestigious "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" and Best Direction for Suit and Tie, which was helmed by Fight Club and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher.

He also took to the stage for an acclaimed 16-minute performance that included a medley of his hits Take Back the Night, Sexyback, My Love and Like I Love You – and a brief reunion with ‘N Synch, who joined Timberlake to perform Gone and Bye Bye Bye before quitting the stage again, leaving Timberlake to wrap up his performance with Suit and Tie and Mirrors.

Also making waves on the night were hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who picked up three statues for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Cinematography for Can’t Hold Us, and Best Video With a Social Message for gay marriage anthem Same Love, which they performed with a surprise appearance from Jennifer Hudson.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars picked up awards for Best Male Video (Locked Out of Heaven), Taylor Swift won the Best Female Video Award for I Knew You Were Trouble and Selena Gomez won Best Pop Video for Come and Get It.

The night was packed with A-list star performances: Miley Cyrus twerked her way through a bizarre performance of her hit We Can’t Stop and joined forces with Robin Thicke on Blurred Lines, while Lady Gaga opened the festivities with Appluase, stripping down to a clam-shell bikini and a thong, which she remained in for the rest of the evening.

The show closed with Katy Perry performing her new smash hit Roar under the Brooklyn Bridge, dressed in boxing-inspired gear.
