Neill Blomkamp Elysium details unveiled

Cape Town – The plot details of Elysium, the much-anticipated film by South African director Neill Blomkamp, his first release since District 9, have been released.

The Elysium production details have been a closely guarded secret until now and reported on the movie’s plot revelation after they received an invitation to a preview screening of the movie, which outlined the plot.

Elysium is a futuristic action thriller, both written and directed by Blomkamp, and stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and District 9‘s breakout South African star Sharlto Copley.

The Elysium plot outline reads:

“In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy “Coordinators,” people who can afford bio-genetical engineering, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, built by the Armadyne Corporation, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a hard government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky ex-con Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”

The movie reunites Blomkamp with SA actor Sharlto Copley, who was last seen in the role of Murdock in 2010’s . Elysium also stars Diego Luna, Alice Braga, William Fichtner and Wagner Moura.

Elysium is set for release worldwide on 1 March 2013.

A for the movie’s release has been under way for almost a year already when a fake recruitment site for a tech company called Armadyne popped up online in July, reports Entertainment Weekly.
