‘Clifton Shores’ hits USA
South African reality melodrama Clifton Shores has been picked up by an American TV channel.
The reality show, set in Cape Town and produced by self-made billionaire Quinton van der Burgh, takes place in the rich, exclusive suburb of Clifton. It has now secured international distribution on America’s TV Guide Network where the show has been renamed The Shores.
Executive producer Van der Burgh wanted the show to find an international — preferably American — broadcaster to pick up the show.
The Los Angeles-based producer and distributor, MarVista Entertainment, has now licensed the first season of Clifton Shores to the TV Guide Network.
The 13-episode reality show follows a group of American women working for Van der Burgh’s marketing company, Quintessential, as they spar, kiss and play their way through Cape Town’s socialite crowd and have fun in the sun.
Van der Burgh has just returned to South Africa after attending an American launch party for the show in Los Angeles, where two episodes will be shown per week on the TV Guide Network. It will bring the US finale very close to the South African one.
"Confirming the US deal was our first goal, and we are very proud to have achieved that," said Van der Burgh.
